My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was a little girl. She had the love and patience to teach a lefty how to crochet with her right hand and then accept all of my “gifts.” Let’s just say my first creations were full of love and a lot of character. I enjoyed making scarves in the winter and the occasional blanket but I really fell in love with crochet over the past few years, especially amigurumi. I love learning new stitches, new techniques and challenging myself to create new things.
The name “Momma Jenkins” was a nickname one of my Soldiers gave me while I was a platoon sergeant. I love it just as much now as I did then, and as you can see by the shop name...I’m keeping it.
I have used my free time after finishing undergrad and a few months of working from home to focus on yoga, meditation and mindfulness. This led me to additional crafts that have helped me to maintain focus on intentions I have set by making myself beaded jewelry. I have fallen in love with the endless variety of beads, stones, and crystals as I continue to learn their properties.
